Tequila Fun Facts

 

The purchase of the Herradura Tequila Company was made by Brown-Forman in 2006 for $776 Million Dollars! Whoever said Tequila was cheap was wrong! In 2008, Mexican scientists discovered a way of vaporizing tequila in order to make diamonds. Although they are too small for use in jewelry these diamonds can be used for commercial and industrial use! Go tequila! Popular Science Magazine   Shots of tequila are often drunk in Tequilerias side by side with Sangrita, a sweet, sour and spicy drink made of orange juice, and chilies. Ask for some here at the restaurant!   A 1 litre bottle of limited edition premium Tequila was sold for $225,000 USD in 2006, becoming the most expensive bottle of spirit sold in the world. Incidentally, the bottle was made of 2 kilos of Platinum and Gold! Guiness Book of World Records

Bragging Rights

Cantina was only the 2nd Bar/Restaurant in Asia to be given the prestigious ‘Award T’ by the Tequila Regulatory Council. The ‘Award T’ is an honor given to 180 establishments worldwide, only 24 of which are outside Mexico. The ‘Award T’ stands for excellence in authenticated tequilas, variety of selection, and extensive staff training.
